Eternal Internet Brother/Sisterhood, Collecting Experience
by Angelo Plessas
Following an exchange of ideas that were catalyzed between Stamatia Dimitrakopoulos and Angelo Plessas in the essay Eternal Internet Brother/Sisterhood IRL Angelo’s presentation will expand on ideas of physical social networking and discuss how the artworks in the show function as “testimonials” of the collecting experience.
No Cash Value
by Garrett Nelson
Garrett Nelson will perform a piece about myth making, narrative and the personal histories contained in lesser known objects and works from private artists’ collections. He uses the idea of the token, the proverbial lock of hair, and the counterpoint of asset value as tension for considering the subversiveness of hidden art exchanges between artists and their counterparts. It is a semi fictional survey of art collections inherited from lovers, mothers, allies and enemies.
Angelo Plessas lives and works in Athens. His activities range widely—from performances to artist residencies; from sculptures, installations, and books to interactive websites (more than sixty since 2000) and from live-stream events to numerous collaborative projects. For the last four years, he has organized annual, weeklong gatherings of The Eternal Internet Brother/Sisterhood.
Garrett Nelson is based in Switzerland and Mexico City. He is a visual artist, writer and performer. Nelson uses referential impulse, theoretical or historical research, literature and poetics as a basis for his installations and performances. Nelson has lectured recently in Athens and Stockholm at the International Deleuze Conferences. Recent exhibitions and performances at Museo de la Ciudad Mexico, Kunsthalle Zürich, Kunsthaus Hamburg, Taylor Macklin, Oslo10 Basel, Kunsthalle Basel, Centre PasquArt Biel, SALT Galata Istanbul, Les Urbaines Lausanne and Sinop Biennial Turkey.
